Samsung is preparing to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra later this month as the premium successor to the Galaxy Z Fold7, and it appears the company is finally addressing the biggest complaint among foldable users: the camera system. Ahead of its highly anticipated launch, a substantial new leak suggests that this flagship foldable will deliver a photography experience that rivals traditional slab smartphones.
Inheriting the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Optical Prowess
Historically, Samsung’s foldable devices have compromised on camera hardware due to space constraints and the need to maintain a slim profile. However, according to a recent blog post on the Korean platform Naver by the well-known tipster Lanzuk, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is set to “inherit key camera features of the Galaxy S26 Ultra”.
This is a massive shift in Samsung’s design philosophy. The tipster claims that the new foldable will heavily focus on advanced software and video capabilities. Specifically, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will support video LUTs (Look-Up Tables) for professional color grading right out of the box. This feature is incredibly popular among content creators who want cinematic aesthetics without relying on third-party editing software. Furthermore, the device is reported to feature significantly improved low-light performance, enhanced AI-driven image processing, and a new dual-video recording mode that utilizes the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
Hardware Expectations vs. Software Realities
While the software upgrades are incredibly promising, the physical camera hardware might remain familiar. Previous leaks suggest that there will not be a massive overhaul of the lenses themselves. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is expected to retain a 200MP primary rear sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP periscope telephoto sensor capable of 3x optical zoom.
However, with the processing power of the rumored Qualcomm SM8750-AC Snapdragon 8 Elite (3 nm) chipset under the hood, these sensors will capture data much faster and with greater clarity.
